2003 fiesta smells of petrol and lacks power after repairs.

Featured Replies

A few weeks ago my 2003 Fiesta 1.25L had a misfire on cylinder 3 due to water in the plug head cavity. I took it to the garage and they cleared it out and fitted new spark plugs and wires. It's no longer misfiring, but as soon as I drove it off the lot I noticed it was down on power- not loads but just enough that it was noticeable. I also noticed when moving the car on the drive a few days later that there was a very strong smell of petrol.

I'm basically just wondering what's happening/ is it the mechanics fault? (I don't want to accuse him of something he didn't do, he's always been good for the past 7 years) I'll be taking it back to him in August for its service and MOT so I could wait until then for a fix if it's not urgent.

Is it maybe a sensor issue and the engine is running too rich? a leak somewhere? Any ideas certainly appreciated!

Check and see if you a leak in the engine bay, if there is one you have the risk of a fire so it needs sorting ASAP.
