Mk6 1.4TDCI injector problem

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a problem with my sons 2010 Fiesta 1.4 TCDI Edge.  thought this is the best place to ask.

3 months ago the car developed a random misfire, whilst driving you feel the engine missing now and again. there was no engine light on dash.

He took it to a garage in Devon where he was staying and they said No1 injector was faulty. so they replaced that injector. after a few days the problem returned so he took it back and they then said No4 injector was now faulty ( did they number them wrong as i know its reversed to normal engines ).  He paid to have that replaced.

He drove back home last week and the problem has reappeared. I took car to a friend mechanic who put his diagnostics on and it showed injector no 2 faulty.

Now im worrying is this an injector problem or injector wiring or something else. Its already cost him over a £1000 to repair and the car is worth £1600.

my mechanic suggests change No2 and 3 then it has all new injectors. but that will cost over £600.  hate to find that problem reappears after changing all injectors.

would appreciate any advice.  is this a common problem on these engines.

thanks

alex

cleared DTC code using forscan, cleaned the connections to the injectors. went for a drive and car still misses when accelerating, it seems ok when you drive at a constant speed. rechecked on forscan and codes still clear.  what else can it be ?

Air leak

Do you mean on the intake between air filter and manifold ?

Could be anywhere on a diesel....

Hi. I’ve had a similar problem with a 2009 1.4 diesel.  It runs ok for about an hour or so  but then goes into limp mode.  Engine management light comes on but nothing showing on a code reader.   Car restarts after a while and runs ok for a bit before repeating.  Recently serviced. Changed fuel filter and MAF sensor but no change. Local garage saying they are struggling to diagnose without a fault code.  Can’t see any obvious air leak as per previous post. Any advice gratefully received.
