Good morning All

recently just taken on a Galaxy 2009 tdci Ghia which seems to have an unusal gremlin in the tailgate. Randomly when driving the boot open warning will come on the dash & the interior lights come on also when this happens you cant open the tailgate i've also noticed it loses power to the rear wiper all lights on the tailgate stop working, if you recycle the ignintion it can sometimes reset its self & its ok. i've also noticed with the ignition on select reverse & the reverse lights seem to fade out this also happens with the side lights on the tailgate previous owner has just fitted a second hand tailgate but he cant confirm if these faults were happening before, i've checked the connection al seems ok before i buy a tailgate harness anyone ideas

many thanks

The flexi harness between the tailgate and the main body of the car is becomming upluged (see connector in head lining) or the harness is damaged.

One problem that can cause all of the faults you have is if the Tailgate loses its Negative Ground connection. Use a multimeter and check the resistance between a metal screw on the tailgate and a good ground point on the body. The resistance should be less than 1 ohm
