Fiesta Mk 7 Audio Problems

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I recently became the owner of a Ford Fiesta Mk7 1.4 Titanium, it was pretty banged up but I have taken it to my local workshop and had it rejuvenated.

I have noticed however when driving around listening to music connected via bluetooth on my phone the speakers at 50% of max volume seem to crackle and distort quite a lot.

Now is this a fix I can have done with an audio upgrade of 4 speakers and an amplifier or do I need to have the actual unit changed too? I have a budget of about £1000.00 so if someone could steer me in the right direction for what work I could have done that would be great.

Ideally I want the best sound possible that I could get because I plan to keep this car for quite a few more years still.

Lastly up in Cumbria there is not any sound specialists does anyone know of a company located in North West/East who could do the work?

Cheers!!!!

You could try:-

I would avoid changing the head unit. An amp and  some new speakers should be enough to make you deaf.

I was hoping to avoid the change of head unit as I have just had the standard fascia sprayed metallic black rather than the nasty silver. Yeah looking for some good quality speakers rather than loud so hopefully they should know what would do the job! Cheers for the help.

The fascia/cover can come off the head unit easily, so if you do have to get a new headunit, just swap the fascia.

I have just done  a audio upgrade on my mk7.5 fez, all vibe with a plug and play amp total cost was about £400 worth every penny and made a huge difference in sound

Where did you get your audio pieces from Kenny? Was it like Halfords?

I think its just quite an expensive job though to get a new headunit.

Got all mine direct from vibe, apart from the back speakers as they was out of stock and Halfords had them in stock, i know vibe were a bit extra ££ but they answered a lot of questions I had about the set up so just went with them, I also got the wire adapters and back speaker casings from eBay about £18 cheaper then audio shops which are about £26.

what I will say is I tested the new speakers with out the plug and play amp and they was I little better then standard, when the amp was connected it made a huge difference I would even say a 60% jump in clarity and sound and power/performance. IMO the amp is a must 👌

We've a Fiesta Titanium and never liked the awful silver painted parts, I asked around if the Sony head unit will work in my car, a few said 'no' but decided to ask my Son if I can take his Sony out and see what happens in our car, I was surprised to find out everything worked, so the hunt was on for a Sony, I got one for just £35 off ebay, fitted it and was over the moon, god rid of the painted part too, also over time I've ditched all the painted parts for that lovely brushed stainless steel effect, proper made our car come alive.
