Rough idling

Featured Replies

Hi got a 2015 red edition on 31k miles and one morning the car started to idle rough as if it’s misfiring.
Had the car serviced to see if that would sort it but it didn’t (it got better but still not right).
took the car for a little run up the motorway and noticed it seemed to struggle sometimes when putting my foot down in 5th.
when driving back and forth work I don’t really notice anything wrong other than the rough idling.

Had 2 people look at it and plug it in and no fault codes are coming up and they don’t know what it is.

anyone come across this before or know what it could be?

Do you have/had an aftermarket air filter/induction kit fitted?

Nope car is completely standard

Is the rough idle is worse when cold ? could be valve timing or valve clearance related issue, which could be caused by excessive carbon buildup on the intake valves, common problem with direct injection engines, is it a 1.0 ecoboost ? whats your mileage ?

Yeah seems worse when cold. Mileage is 31k

And yes a 1.0 ecoboost

31k too early for any valve clearance adjustment or any carbon buildup to be a problem, any work done on the engine lately ? could you get the car on OBD and check the long term fuel trim ? could give us a clue
