Timing belt replaced? Mk7 Ford fiesta

Featured Replies

I had a service done this time last year which I also got to be timing belt/water pump done at the same time. (Little over90k on the clock at the time)

I got a health check due to noticing an oil leak (rocket gasket), upon receiving my car they had mentioned they recommend me doing my timing belt again due to the age of the car and mileage (little shy of 95k).

I will be getting the gasket replaced next week, should the belt get replace?

I wouldn’t need to pay for labour twice due to them having to work on the gasket which is near that location.

Nothing is visually wrong with the belt, and the car work magnificently for the age of it.

any help would be appreciated.

Seeing as your car is 12 years old the belt needs to be changed.

Do you mean the belt was replaced with the service last year or am I reading that wrong?  It doesn't need doing again after just 5000 miles.

if they did the timing belt and water pump only 1 year ago why are they saying it needs done again? or did you get it done else where and the ford garage doesnt know its been done?

It was done in the same place, they are saying due to the age and the miles of the car they highly recommend it.

I though it was was a load of crap, but at the same time a little voice in my head was saying it makes sense...

im glad I got borough it up with you guys as by the looks of it, the belt I got now should happily last me until I get my focus next year.

thanks for the feedback

I had mine done 2 years ago all belts/and pump and mine is a MK7 2011 titanium the 1.6 but only 31k and once it's done its back to the normal miles/years again.

Trying to get money out of you,a 95k car and trying to get belt done every 1 year, that ain't right.

I know its something like 100k or 10 years but i always have had mine done earlier like 8 years in my case, ignore them unless oil gone on it off the leak.
