Engine Cover?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Got my new 1.4 Zetec Fiesta yesterday, over the moon with it!

Just wondering, is it meant to have a engine cover? My MK6 had one so was pretty surprised to see my new one didnt, it looks like there are screw holes for it to so not to sure..

Cheers

Marc

Hiya, nope the mk7 doesn't have an engine cover (well mine doesn't anyway). It's probably a good thing anyway, as I suspect the old one one mainly there for soundproofing and perhaps the mk7 is refined enough not to need one! :D

The engine cover on the last model Fiesta was very functional, as it housed the panel-type air-filter for the engine air-intake. It also quelled a large amount of tappet noise. The remote location of the air-filter box in the Mk 7, has given rise to comments of noticable tappet noise, but the filter may last longer, and the space between the engine and the bonnet panel enhances the accident personnel protection rating, and is probably required for the latest Euro approved accident test ratings.

It is possible to buy a engine cover at european-parts.net ! ;)
