Trickle charging Mk4

Featured Replies

When you guys have your batteries on the Mk4 on trickle charge does anyone know what is the max it charges too ?

Does it charge fully 14.5/8 or only up to 80% and if it's only 80% what Voltage are we looking at that point.

Had the Solar charger on this morning as car was stood yesterday. Battery reading 11.6v ( normal for ours) had charger on since I got to work at 0745 and its reading 12.5v @ 10:00.

I got the MK4 MHev ecoboost, also throubleshoot with the battery. and after a lot of measurement. I got this when full charged overnight i got 12,8V but when i open the door it's drops to 12,3V. within a few days of driving short distances i'll have only 11,9V max.
Now the problem is when the accu is under about 12,2V the passenger keyless entry door wouldn't work anymore. after a long drive it's works again for a day of so.
Now By two weeks the car go back to the dealer for a few days for finding out what's going on. Because a got this from day 1 and the car is almost 1 year now.

Intresting. I don't seem to be able to get past 12.6v with the solar charger but that could be simply because it's only left on charge for 4 hours and depending on the weather. I have done a few checks and found that each time I get out and lock the car then open it by keyless entry the charge drops by 0.2 it drops 0.3 if I unlock start the car and go through the cycle of getting back out and locking it back up. The most it drops in one cycle was yesterday when I opened it with the Global opening and that took 0.5 off the charge.
