Focus audio on while ignition off

Featured Replies

Hi All, first time on the forum.

Simple question, but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere.

Just bought myself a 2018 Ford Focus Style estate. On occasions i may find myself parked up waiting for someone. Would like to be able to play the radio or cd while waiting, but I can't seem to find a way to get that.

The handbook has page after page about Sync 2, Sync 3 and other unhelpful stuff, but nothing about this relatively simple task. Internet comes up with answers ranging from wires connected wrongly to simple ways to do it, but only if you have a Volkswagen, ahem.

So, over to you experts, any thoughts?

Jeff

Just PRESS the ON/OFF Button on the Head Unit.

Hi Alan

Thanks for the thought, but that doesn't work. Pressing the button does turn the radio on, but only for a couple of minutes, then it turns itself off again.

The car has another minor fault in that the auto stop/start doesn't work. Wondering if both might be connected to battery condition.

Still looking

Jeff

Sorry for the late reply: Is your car a MK4 Focus or a MK3 Try charging the Battery to FULL Reset the Battery Monitoring System (different method on a MK4 to a MK3)and see if that fixes the problem as a low Battery can cause problems with the two items that you mention.

Does your car have Keyless entry if so does the passenger side work correctly as this is also another symptom of a LOW Battery.

While ignition switch is on ACC to listen to the radio a "Low Battery Audio Off" message will display on the radio screen after about 5 minutes and the radio will turn off. I will need to turn the vehicle on in order to bring the radio back on, however the same thing will keep happening after turning the ignition switch to ACC.
Know that I do drive the car for a straight hour before parking and turning it to ACC to listen to the radio. And no, I do not turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.  tomzpot mobdro
