Odd Stereo Issue in 2012 model

Featured Replies

Hi, i'm hoping someone will be able to solve this issue for me.

I have a 2012 Fiesta and I often attach my phone via jack and listen to music. It works perfectly.
I've recently got into audiobooks but it's difficult to listen to them through my car speakers as the first word of many sentances are very quiet before returning to normal volume for the rest of the words in the sentence.

My assumption is that when there is no sound being sent to the speakers they turn off, and then quickly turn on when sound is detected.
I'm guessing that because music rarely has prolonged moments of pure silence I never notice it. But because audiobooks are often just a single voice talking - there are lots of small silent gaps between sentences.

It may sound trivial but It makes audiobooks really unpleasant to listen too because my ears are constantly straining to pick out the first word.
I've tried playing the audiobooks through my headphones and my home stereo and they perfectly so it must be something to do with the car.
I don't have bluetooth option in the car so am not able to try it that way.

Any ideas? I've tried playing with the stereo settings but I haven't gotten anywhere.

Thanks for reading.

You are correct that the system does back the volume off if it detects no audio track.

Turn the treble up to maximum and also the AVC (automatic volume control) to maximum, it should help.
