Fiesta 1.4 diesel

Featured Replies

Hi guys I've got a couple of ford's but I'm buying a 07 fiesta and it has the 1.4 diesel. I'm just looking for any buying advice what to look for what's common problems. I've heard that the injector seals can go because it's a psa engine and ford used there own injectors. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers guys.

I have the 1.6 tdci currently at 108k miles. I find it extra sensitive to the type of engine oil you feed it.

Some people just throw in 10w 40 engine oil and an after market oil filter because of the cost of the specific engine oil and oil filter and then wonder why the turbo is mashed due to oil starvation due to the sludge in the mesh filter in the turbo oil feed pipe and the oil seals perishing. It not only needs the specific spec oil right but a quality oil and oil filter should be oem. Its expensive. I changed the oil and filter twice yearly regardless of mileage on mine.

Check if radiator fan comes on at the right stage.

Just noticed my rad fan does not come on at all. The temp needle sits in the middle as usual and i even get blistering hot air so it was just by chance i found out. I'm replacing the stat, CTS and coolant this weekend.

Coil springs can snap suddenly. Mine went with a loud bang as i sat in the car to drive off.

Abs pumps can go on these regularly and expensive to replace proffesionaly.

I prefer the 1.6 tdci any day above the 1.4. It just simply has more power and still returns similar mpg to the 1.4.

They are very capable engines if they are maintained frequently with the correct lubricants but then maintenance costs are high.

That's the type of info I was after thank you so much. I've decided to go for the 1.6 now just due like you say power. I've got a viewing on a really nice one on Monday and I am praying to drive away with it looks really nice and tidy in the pictures. Fingers crossed its going to be the 4th ford on my drive lol.
