Key fob issue.

Featured Replies

Hi, I bought a 2010 Ford Focus zetec s petrol 1.8 at the weekend there and the fella I bought it off only had 1 key. The key is needed to press the engine start button however there is no remote to open the doors remotely.

Does anyone know if this is something that can be bought and if so where, or do they not come with them?

Also the Key outside warning keeps coming on even when the key is inside. Does anyone know why that would be.

Thanks

Local auto locksmith should be the best price. No matter what a new key will need programming in for the immobiliser.

Have you tried changing the battery?

I think the OP is saying he only has the basic key without the remote options.

I'm not sure if it should be a remote key he needs or a remote fob, either way they can be got on Amazon for example: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01MFHD9GZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_MH3WZY64J0ZAQRZ9JW4R?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&pldnSite=1

They will still as Luke says need to be programmed

Thanks for the feedbaxk. There is no battery in the key as it's the basic one.

With there being a button ignition I guess I just need to know if it's a keyless remote fob I would get or a remote key?

The key outside messege is a strange one but getting a new fob main sort that?

If the car has keyless ignition then you just need a remote keyfob (emergency key is hidden inside the fob)

Just have a bit of a look round Amazon or eBay for a keyfof for your model/year. Buy 2, its as cheap to programme up two keys at the same time as doing one.

That's strange. I've never seen a keyless mk2 focus that doesn't have central locking on the fob.

The one you need for keyless start is like this picture. If you go to a local autolocksmiths and give them your reg then they will source the correct one for you as well as do all the work.

I wouldn't supply one yourself as a lot of the ones sold online don't come with the immobiliser chips, and may not work properly if its a cheap Chinese one.
