Fiesta 58 reg Wing Mirrors

Featured Replies

My wife had her Fiesta (2008) valeted this morning. Now, the wing mirrors don't fold in when the car is remotely locked. I've searched through the settings menu but can't find any options to reset the mirrors. Any suggestions of help would be gratefully received.

Chris

Does it look like 1

Thanks for posting the topic, Christoblue. I have the same problem although the cause of mine was somewhat different. Driving down a narrow lane, my wife clipped wing mirrors with an oncoming car. Appeared to me that the only damage was to the clear indicator sector of the driver's wing mirror but, unsurprisingly, the local garage disagreed and insisted that it needed a completely new wing mirror assembly! She agreed to have it done and now the wing mirrors don't retract or go out when locking/unlocking! Took it back and they (allegedly) replaced the entire unit again as the computer readout said that there was an issue with the motor. They have now decided that it is a software issue and the only way to resolve this is to take it to a main dealer (miles away!) and get the software updated. Don't know why but that sounds as though it's not going to be cheap!

Thanks for the advice, Statts, but our car is a 65 plate and the wing mirror adjusters are in the drivers door arm rest and don't have a button like in your image.

Any helpful advice, suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

Does it have a switch like this

Window Control Switch with Wing Mirror Switch (Folding) AM5T14A132AA: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike

Or like this

If its like the second switch the toggle can move left/right or in the middle and then by pushing the down switch when the toggle is in the middle the mirrors should fold electrically.

Hope this helps

What a load of drivel.

They changed the mirror, they need to make it work!!

If they can't make it work, tell them to fit the old mirror back on AND return all money, then take it to somewhere else

OR

Tell them that you will take it somewhere else to rectify their faults and will be billing them the damages.

Sounds like they've fitted a non power-fold.

No software controls the mirror movement.

Sounds to be something that Hans Christian Andersen could have wrote a story about.

Once upon a time there was a clueless garage who liked to pretend they could mend things, one day a man brought a car to them with a poorly mirror .......

feel free to finish the story at anytime.
