Did anyone get to the bottom of the aircon noises in their fiesta?

Featured Replies

Hi there

There seem to be a large number of historical threads about a whirring type noise behind the dashboard in fiestas when the aircon is activated.

My son just bought an ST-Line 18 plate and it has this fault, so before I contact the garage to get it seen to under warranty I wondered if anyone had a definitive answer on the cause. Some of the threads suggest the issue is with the compressor, others that the system needs regassing. I've never understood why car air con needs a re-gas unless there is a leak in the system - you never re-gas your fridge.

Many thanks in advance

Fridges run semi continuosly in a stable environment, so seals survive.

Air con in cars does not, as a lot of people leave it off because in a small car the increase in petrol consumption is noticeable, so seals leak.

So use the aircon at least monthly, but turn it off before you finish your journey to dry out the condenser.
