Fiesta misfire at low speed

Featured Replies

This has been a much discussed topic usually starting with replacing all the ignition components. Sometimes that works  but reports generally say not. I believe I've found a cure. My 2010 fiesta would lack power when accelerating between second and third similar to turbo lag. The guilty party is the crankcase breather valve and hose being either gummed up or faulty. I know this part as a pcv valve from other car ownership. You can see the hose between the centre gap of inlet manifold. Access to replace is a real pain but I tried this first. With a T20 bit I unscrewed and removed sensor in front of hose so to get leverage on it with a wide blade long-shafted screwdriver. Lifting this one end of hose upwards, I shot copious amounts of carb cleaner, I used STP and let that soak for 10 minutes then followed that with WD40 to lube the ball bearing inside pcv valve. Refitting hose and sensor, took the car for a test drive and it flew up the hill like a 2 year old. Just in case it was a fluke, I have ran the car for 2 weeks before posting this and happily report all still running well. If it does reoccur again I may consider replacing hose OEM 1674075 and crankcase breather valve OEM 1702150 but will repost if that happens. Your vehicle may use different part numbers but the principle is the same. Nice cheap fix.
