Hi guys,

2019 Fiesta Vignale 125 ecoboost

Bought used last September it had about 4500 on clock, dealer did service before, I bought it.

It now only has just over 6000 miles on clock.  So my Question is:

In September 2022, it will be due again according to Ford recommendations, because of course by then it will be 2 years.

I've not really used the car for any long journeys. Is it advisable to leave it 2 years

My oil life is 59% according to the Ford Pass app

Bristol Street Motors where I bought it, do a summer checkup for £35 which checks fluid levels etc and cleans Airton.

To me that summer check up sounds like a possible rip off, but then I know damn all 🙂

any advise on the above please folks

Many thanks,

Steve

Personally I'd stick to the service schedule regardless of how few miles you have of done.

You can check the fluid levels easily enough yourself rather than paying £35 for someone the to lift your bonnet and look at it and say yep all ok.

Thanks mate, yeah my thoughts too, always best to hear your thoughts echoed:-)

Cheers

Yep crazy to pay that and more to the point do they actually check it ? I know one thing not all ford dealers can be trusted, on my breakdown of service consumables, the cabin filter had been changed, I'd stuck a bit of cellotape on the side cover/console, as my own security seal like, I looked at the tape and it was still securely stuck down, I questioned the dealership and they said 'yes the filter had been changed'..... I then explained about my bit of tape 🤔 the bloke behind the desk went into the workshop and came back telling me the filter had not been changed, a mechanic came out and got on his knees and changed the filter, I asked the mechanic if he was the one who did the service and ticked off everything, he said he was the one and genuinely missed it out 👎

Got to ask yourself this but I wonder how many ford dealerships rip customers off ? I mean if one is paying for something, then it should get changed.

Hi Ian,

Thanks for your reply, I am on the same wave length as you.

I wouldn't trust any dealership as far as I could throw them.

I hear of this sort of thing all the time.

I think my car will stay put until the 2 year service is due.

Thanks for sharing your findings

Cheers

Steve

If it was less than 2 yrs old when you bought it, I guarantee BSM did not do a service on it

Coincidentally this is what Ford charged for the "convenience check" when I first ordered my car, though that included up to 1 litre of oil top up plus the years extension to breakdown. The official price for that has now gone up to £105 I think, but some dealers are flexible. I'd also done very little mileage during lockdown(s) but still had an oil/filter change with the check when I had my MOT as I've never been happy when cars have been stood a long while.

My local (small, family owned) Ford dealership have shown themselves to be trustworthy during the 15 or so years I'be used them, but I have caught out bigger dealerships in the past (particularly in my company car days) in similar ways to Ian has mentioned.

Another thing I do is, put a small scratch mark on my oil filter, on getting the car back I check to see if the scratch has gone, usually it's a brand new filter but was once bitten by this con in that the filter looked brand new, but had been wiped clean to look new.....Always some garages to con the customer, that's why I used to do all my own services, but due to ill' health I'm having to get garages to do the jobs.

Is a con or is it they just can’t be arsed?👍
