15" Snowflake Alloys

Featured Replies

Will 15" Snowflake alloys clear 2010 Zetec S brakes?

I like having a spare set of wheels for winter tyres.  My car is lowered quite a bit so there's not a great deal of arch clearance on the 17's.  If 15" wheels clear the brakes, then they would be a decent option to fit some winter tyres to.

If they don't, do 16" wheels clear them?

find out the offset of your wheels, and then use this https://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=205&aspect=40&diameter=17&wheelwidth=7&offset=46&width2=205&aspect2=40&wheel_size=17&wheel_width=7-5&offset2=35

and enter the tyre size and offset correctly and it will tell you how far the wheel will stick out

for eg. i want new 17 wheels for my 2012 zetec s i have the stock 17 width 7 with offset 47.5 so say 48 on that calculator. new wheels are 17 width 7.5 with offset 35. same tyres on both, 205 40 17 look at the picture and it tell me my new wheels will 6.6mm further away from the suspension strut and will stick out more 19.4mm

I don't think it's going to be an offset issue, Nick.  I think it's going to be the curvature on the inside of the wheel that might be a problem, due to them being a smaller diameter OEM wheel they might catch the brake calliper.  There's not a great deal of clearance to look at as it is with the OEM 17" snowflake alloys.

Ideal world a cheap 16" set of TSW Venoms in the correct fitment would come up for sale that clear the brakes. 😂😂

Lad I bought it off said it was on coilovers.

The problem you might encounter is you're going from a 7" wide wheel to 7.5" wide wheel.  My understanding of offset is limited, but, whilst your new wheels might sit a bit further out they are still wider so might catch on the arch liners etc.

My other car is an Impreza and lots of folk claim that wheels will clear newage Brembo's because they have the correct offset.  The problem is those Brembo's are rather large callipers and the wheels don't clear because the inside of the spokes is too tight, they won't even sit close to the hub because of that.

This shouldn't be too much of a problem with what looks to be a rather small calliper in comparison, so you "should" be fine. 🙂
