MK4 - Swap AC controls?

Featured Replies

Didn't even cross my mind when buying the car, but i have the standard AC dial setup as pictured below. I really miss where you could just set the temprature of the cabin and it does it all for you. Fan speed, heat/cooling etc. Not actually bothered about the Dual Zone Aspect...

I really want the digital version found in the ST-line X trim. I'm guessing you will need the Cabin Temprature sensor located in the drivers side below the sterring column and most likely it will need changing with forscan to regonise the unit. I've already had a look and the plugs at the back are identically.... Any ideas? I think there also may be some sort of mechanical diverter in the AC system that would need changing for the Dual Zone aspect.

But this is what i want... Again, plugs are the same and it's a direct fit.

Yes, you will need driver's AND passenger's internal temperature sensors and the HVAC control module from a higher spec vehicle.

I'm not sure where the passenger one is located, but you will need it.

Focus only has dual climate control I'm afraid

Then configure it with Forscan

This sounds like a great mod. Did you get any further with it? Also, can you tell me how to remove the existing heating controls?

 Thanks

Unfortunately you need dash wiring loom from a model that has dual climate control, I know as I am trying it now and so fair you’ll need that, which I found isn’t too dear if you look on eBay about 60 to 80 quid the hvac control unit I got for about 13 quid , and you’ll need a bunch of sensors , but mainly the internal temperature which two I have located behind the middle air vents the other two by the diagram I have , are behind the Speedo and Nav screen but I haven’t found them two for sure , but as now I’m not looking into until I have spare cash to spend but il give an update on when i get it working.
