Sat nav activation on 2020 fiesta

Featured Replies

I am considering buying a 2020 fiesta but the sat nav needs activating. I have searched the internet but cannot find out how this is done and the cost. Plenty of info about older models. Can anyone help please.

Are you sure you’re not looking at a Fiesta with Sync3 that simply doesn’t have navigation?

You can’t just activate navigation on these models, but you could replace the Sync3 APIM for a navigation variant... which obviously has a cost.

Thanks for your reply Andy. I do need sat nav so I think I will steer clear of those with the attached message

That looks like a generic dealer notice -  nav on the Mk 8 Fiesta is through the Sync 3 system, not SD card.

You don't mention which version you are looking at but by 2020 most models had factory Sync 3 nav and you could use Android Auto or Apple Car Play on ones that don't.

Thanks for the reply “Eric” This is getting too difficult! I will wait until one with the appropriate spec and working sat nav turns up. Otherwise it’s back to the Tom Tom.

I really don't see why it should be. Just looking back at a Fiesta price list from December 2019 and every model except the base Trend has sat nav as standard - my small local Ford dealer has 19 used Fiestas in stock at the moment from 2017-2020 and most have factory satnav.

A dealer putting a notice on a vehicle effectively saying "This car HAS satnav, it just needs activated" must surely leave them wide open to being found guilty of braking the Sale of Goods Act (or similar).

I don't think I would trust a dealer who is so out of touch with the vehicles they are selling that they think a generic notice will keep them out of trouble.

Yes, I would think that if looking for such a new vehicle as 2020 a Ford Direct car or pre-reg through a Ford dealer might be a better bet. They might have a clue about the specs of the vehicles they are selling (though, as we know, you can't always count on it!😀)

You can search the Ford Direct website to see what vehicles are available in the system  (usually hundreds of Fiestas) and any participating Ford dealer can get one for you (if they don't have a suitable car already in dealer stock), with a 30 day exchange scheme.
