Worth doing?

Featured Replies

AFTER reading some posts here, regarding oil and filter change, got in touch with my local small family run Ford approved dealer.

Diagnostic check

Oil Change

Filter change

£105 inclusive of VAT.

Bought my used 2019 Fiesta 125 Vignale, last September, it had just had full annual service(1 year old then) I have done about 2,000 miles since service to date

My next full service is of course not due until September 2022

Is it good idea to go for this £105 oil change/Filter change/diagnostic check now, or would I be ok leaving it another year until next service is due?

Thanks in advance

Steve

Assuming the "diagnostic check" is what Ford call the "Convenience Check",  the official price for that (which should include 12 months breakdown cover) is now around £105*** My local Ford place does me a similar deal to yours to include oil/filter.

I guess it depends on whether you trust Ford's extended service interval - many of us don't, as extensively discussed on other threads!😀

FWIW, I've had "Convenience Checks" plus oil/filter at 12 and 36 months, with the full service in between at 24 months.

***Stop press - just seen that the official price has now risen to £115!

Many thanks Eric, I must admit to being really naive when it comes to cars and maintenance having been so very very lucky all of my life in having a permanent stream of company cars (Golden Wheels Club 🙂 )

Never ever given the cost of servicing a 2nd or even 1st thought until now owning my own, couldnt have even told you the price of petrol during the last 44 years 🙂

so many thanks for your help again Eric  great advice yet again mate.

Yeah, those were the days! I had plenty of years of DIY before that though, so still remembered what to do when I left the club!😀

Lol, I could, back in the day - I was on a deal where you paid for the fuel and then claimed business use at a (fairly generous) rate. So it paid me to maximise mpg which is why I went diesel, and get the cheapest fuel!😀 Not a clue now though - like you my mileage is pretty low these days.
