Ford focus 1.6 tdci 2009 engine malfunction.

Featured Replies

Hi.

I have a ford focus estate 09 plate 1.6 tdci.

I've got the engine malfunction displaying whenever I drive the car. Straight into limp mode. Really annoying! No orange engine light, just the warning message on the lcd display.

I had a diagnostic done which showed up map, maf, dpf and egr issues. I've changed the map sensor and the maf (mas air flow) sensors, cleaned out the dpf through using redex and reving it at 3.5k revs for 30-40 mins, replaced the egr as I'd previously cleaned it, but then had a fresh diagnostic done showing only egr valve was stuck open. Lots of nasty black smoke out the back which stank. Replaced the egr and again reved it through at 3.5k revs for 40 mins. No more smoke and the car runs fine. Until the message reappears, forcing the car into limp mode.

I've disconnected the battery as I'd read on here that it resets thing, still happening though.

I've looked on YouTube to locate the eolys tank, and I don't seem to have one?

Could anyone recommend what els I could try? I'm at a total loss, as are the garage.

Many thanks.

Paul.

What's the actual code that's coming up?

I didn't have the code myself. The garage said it was, showing egr.

I've got an obd reader arriving from amazon today, so when it comes I'll do a reading and update you.

I've just checked the battery and it's reading 14v so not that. Also checked it under revs, so isn't the alternater.

Hi, I'm getting fault codes as follows,

P0087, P042f, P0490, P1412, P2033, P2196, P2290, U0073 and U0416.

Could this be a fuel pump issue perhaps?

Many thanks.

Update.

To date, I have replace the map and maf sensors, egr valve, fuel filter, oil filter, air filter. I've used an stp engine cleaner along with a car lube injector cleaner.

The engine management light still pops up and the code is P042f. Power train.

Has anyone any ideas what could be the issue? I'm baffled.

Many thanks.
