Full left side of car electrics failed

Featured Replies

Hi, first time posting and need too pick brains.

My daughter's 2014 Ford Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost has decided to stop working completely down the lefthand side. Window stopped working, wing mirror and both passenger doors won't lock as well, lights still work. Checked fuses, seem to be ok. Managed to secure car doors and window, but still need to things going again and was wondering. If anybody had the same faults and if so, how did they rectify it.

First you probably won't get many answers here in General Chat, better to repost to the Fiesta Forum.

Is this a 2 door or 4 door?

Op says the left side electrics stopped working, and says both passenger doors won't lock. I think it's safe to infer that it's a 4 door.

As for the OP:

I can't say I know anything solid here but if we're talking almost every single electronic thing on one side going down... Well... Unless they use a single fuse for the entire left side, or there's something that connects/controls just the left side and nothing else besides the wiring... Well, to me it'd seem as though the only logical explanation is that it's a wiring issue

It is a 4 door, it was just on the off chance that someone else has had the same issue.

I have checked through all the wiring in the door, can't see any break.

Will need to check through the wiring in the wing mirror and the loom that runs from the door to the body of the car, too see if the is a break there.

It was on the off chance that someone has had the same issue, but thank you for replying.

Check the wiring harness between the front passenger door and the body. I'm not sure about your model, but on some this is actually a plug and socket although it is hard to tell.

I would also take a good look at the BCM (Body Control Module) and check all plugs/sockets for signs of water/corrosion which again is common on a number of models.

That's perfect, I shall do that first thing tomorrow. Appreciate the reply.
