Ford s max 2008 steering and alignment issues

Featured Replies

Hi guys I have a 2008 Ford s max  I replaced my steering rack but now my steering wheel is half a turn off centre

how do I fix this or can a tyre shop fix it for me ?

thanks

The quickest way is to take the steering wheel off and put it back on in the correct place.

Disconnect the battery first. Then remove steering wheel airbag (be gentle) undo the nut holding steering wheel on, and the pull the wheel forward to remove it. Reposition the wheel and put it back on.

Have you had an alignment done since you replaced the rack? The garage should've set the steering wheel to the centre before adjusting the track rod ends.

If you haven't had an alignment done then you'll definitely need one.

And the length of the track rods should be the same on both sides.
