Problem removing moulded panel surrounding stereo

Featured Replies

Hi People

Not been here in awhile, as not had any bother with my 2005 (55 plate) Fusion lately.

I have decided to put an after market stereo in, the CD player no longer works & I get bored listening to the ***** radio! I have the fascia etc but my problem at the moment is actually removing the moulded plastic which surrounds the current manufactured (OEM??) stereo, hazard light, & other buttons there.  I have taken out the 4 screws & managed to get off the right hand side of it with hardly any bother, even the top & bottom of the left side are loose, but I'm unable to move the the 'middle' section of the left side, have any of you done this & how did you overcome it??  I'm sure it's probably something really simple I've missed, but trying to find video instructions or just instructions in general is nigh on impossible for a 2005 fusion!

Thanks in advance!!

Julez

Not sure if this will help, a photo of the radio surround from google showing fixings. If it's the wrong one, post a photo of yours and we'll have a look!

Hi Stephen

Thanks for the reply, mine's similar to the pic but got 3 separate bits CD,  Radio & station memory thing (the 2 middle bits of black plastic will need to be removed for the fascia) I've just been out & taken a pic so you can see what I mean!

Here's hoping you can help!

Thanx

Sorry buddy, that moulding is well out of my wheel house! Hopefully someone else will be along soon to help...

Just need to 'pop' the switch panel out on the left hand side.  Screwdriver or trim tool poked in the top, taking care not to damage it.  There are 2 screws hidden behind it.

Thanks for trying Stephen ..  & Tom I thought that's what the problem was, just couldn't work out where they were or how to get to them!! So the blank 'buttons' above & below the windscreen & rear window heater buttons is where the screws are then??  Great! 👍 I'll try that in a bit xx

Thanks again

All 4 buttons come out as one solid block, the screws are behind that.

Tom, seriously, is there no end to your knowledge about pretty much everything Ford related? LOL 😁

Mk6 Fiesta's are my era...I've done a few of these awkward 'triple dash' radios.  Thankfully they changed the design for the facelift with a normal key release system.

Hi People!!

Thanks for the info on here, it was much appreciated, but apparemtly where the fan/air con switches are, the surround should of just gone down enough to get to the factory radio & get it out, thankfully a guy wasn't busy that day & got Ray in £45 later & I've now got the new stereo in, & happlly listening to Planet Rock!
