Programming an new Fiesta Mk6 Keyfob.

Featured Replies

Hi folks. Can someone please advise me.

We have two remote keyfobs for our 05-08 Mk6.5 Fiesta.

The fobs have the carbon transmitter thingy and not the bulb type.

One of the fobs does not work via remote but it can still open the car doors manualy and even start engine.

If i get a new remote fob from ebay, can i programme this fob to fully work using the key in the ignition backwards/forwards 4 times method or does it require proffesional programming and how much will it cost. Any recommendations where i can get this done in Manchester.

Important to note that programming immobiliser transponder is a totally separate operation from programming the lock/unlock buttons. If you do need new electronic bit to get the buttons working, put the carbon chip from old key into the new one.  Then you just need to program the button operation not the immobiliser, You don’t need a professional. I can’t remember how to program the buttons but it is easy.

So that what the thingy is called, a transponder.

Ok, that makes sense.

I need a new fob with a new circuit board and buttons etc. I will then shift my transponder into the new fob and fit my existing blade on it. Then program the buttons.

I will have a look in my cars handbook again for programming buttons.

Thank you.

Before ordering new circuit board, i thought to open the key fob to check if the battery was the right way round. It was and went ahead to clean the area where the transponder goes into the key housing with a cotton bud as it was full of dust and bent the battery contact pins to ensure good contact. While sat on the sofa inside and the car out on the road, i thought to press the unlock button on the fob not expecting anything but to my suprise it unlocked the car. Its been working for a week now. Another job cleared.
