“3-part” stereo 2005 Fusion

Featured Replies

I’ve read several posts regards REMOVAL, and watched an excellent video on same on YouTube, and removal seems simple enough, but my question is:~

will a standard double-din stereo fit back in, and more importantly, how would I secure it, given that the one coming out has “lugs” top and bottom that protrude outwith the unit?

Is there an adapter I can purchase, and if so, where do I get one?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Taking out the factory stereo isn't the difficult part, the plastic surround is the problem!  LOL

I have recently got a new stereo for my 55 reg Fusion, what you need is a fascia kit which should have everything you need (plate to either fit a 1 or 2 din stereo. & a converter wires).  Halfords or other type of place can get all this if you get the stereo from them.   I bought the fascia kit from Ebay for £13.99  & the stereo separately.  I eventually had to give up with the plastic surround as it was stuck where the fan heater/air con is as I managed to crack the housing & ended up taking it to a very nice bloke who done it all for £45.

Hope this helps you xx

If you're replacing stock unit with an aftermarket single DIN give yourself plenty of time to do it because it can be a kin pain. Hazard light switch is a pain, plastics can be brittle especially the little screw lugs on the heater controls. I had 4 when I started, got one now 🤬 and the biggest pain in the backend is the heater airflow knob and getting it reseated, 45 minutes in I'd ran out of swear words!

This is what I used to fit my standard stereo https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181596979935?hash=item2a480602df:g:2jQAAOSwD75faLnV

Good luck!!
