Warning lights.

Featured Replies

Hi everyone!

I was out in my focus today when all of a sudden it starts "bonging" at me and scrolling through a few messages on the information screen- tyre pressure system malfunction service required- low speed safety system not available- hill start assist not available and maybe one or two others that I cant remember! Also the ABS light, traction control light and tyre pressure warning light all came on, also the traffic sign recognition system does not appear to be working! On getting home I disconnected the battery for half an hour or so hoping it might "reset" and after re-connecting battery I also now have an engine warning light on as well! (would I be right in saying that engine warning light should sort itself out after a few miles of driving? I think I read that somewhere???). I dont think the "leaving lane" warning system is working either! I have noticed that when I turn the ignition on (without starting), after a few seconds all the warning lights go out apart from the ABS light (obviously the oil and battery light dont go out until starting!) Would I be right in saying that the ABS light should go out after a few seconds as well (without starting). As soon as I move off the other warning lights come back on and the "bonging" starts again! If I do have an ABS fault (I am assuming that is the case)  would this affect all the other systems as well or am I heading for something horrendously expensive? Car is going in for a timing belt change Monday so I am already going to get a ***** great bill for that!!!

Thoughts anyone?

Regards!

You need to read the codes. You'll probably find it's an ABS sensor (as this also does the traction control, and will probably take out the hill start if it detects something wrong.). If you read the codes it should tell you exactly what's wrong.

Update on this problem.

I put the car into "test" mode today, scrolled down to the DTC screen hoping to see some fault codes but it says NO DTC yet the abs light is still on all the time and the other lights still come on as soon as I move off!! So now I am mightily confused! I assume any fault code would be shown on test screen or do some not show on it? Can anybody give me a clue???

Regards.

Oh by the way, the cruise control doesn,t work since the problem started either!!!

The test menu is useless for DTC's.

Ideally you need a modified ELM327 lead and Forscan downloaded on a laptop to do it yourself.

Thanks again Luke! Hopefully my garage will test it for me while fitting cambelt. I am thinking I might get a ELM327 lead and download Forscan as well!

Regards.
