What to look out for in a 2012 Ford Fiesta?

Featured Replies

I am looking to buy a 2012 Ford fiesta. It is a 1.4 TDCi DPF Zetec, it has a total of 54,000 miles but has only done 1,000 miles in the last 5 years.

I am going to view the car this Friday and as a first time driver and someone with very limited car knowledge, I have no idea what to look for. Would I be able to get some guidance/advice on what to look out for in terms of general car advice and anything specific to this ford fiesta or potential links that may help.

Thank you!

Only doing 1000 miles in 5 years doesn't do the engine any favours at all. I'd also be slightly wary about the DPF being blocked.

Some general stuff on this thread:

As Luke says, I'd be very wary of a diesel thats averaged only 4 miles a week for 5 years.

Other things to look out for on a little used car are cracked/perished tyres and corroded brake discs, though hopefully these would have been picked up at MoT and corrected.
