Hello I have a 2018 for fiesta st line turbo. The problem I am having is with the gear stick. Normally when you push the gear stick forward slightly it would bounce back into central position even backwards slightly it would bounce forward to the central position what I’m having is that the gear stick just stays were I push it it doesn’t return. It even does the same in gear it feels floppy. If I push it to the right or the left it goes back to the centre of the left and right movement but the forward and back stays were I leave it. And no I am not pushing it all the way into gear and it’s staying in gear. I have removed the gear selector from the car and found the left to right return spring is ok but forward and back I can’t seem to see a spring or anything that would even hold the spring. I was certain that the return mechanism would be in/on the selector. I’m asking if maybe the return for forward and back is relative to the gearbox side of this before I go ahead and order a selector.

Hi James, welcome to the Ford Owners Club.

There is a spring return fitted on the top of the gearbox. If you look at the point where the cables connect to the selector piviot on the gearbox you should be able to see the spring.
