Fiesta Zetec Ecoboost exhaust flexi pipe

Featured Replies

Hi,

Hope I have posted this in correct place, but at my MOT yesterday, there was an advisory that the flexi pipe was "deteriorating", does anyone know if this comes as a separate part, or does the CAT have to be included?

There is a place not far from me that seems to supply and fit stainless flexi pipes, really reluctant to shell out for a new CAT as just laid out £315 for new axle bushes, which prov=abaly were overdue for replacement.

Advice appreciated

Thanks

Dave

It's part of the downpipe. You can chop the flexible out and weld a new one in. Alternatively you can buy a pre-fabricated section which you just cut your exhaust back and use an exhaust clamp. It comes with the flange welded on one side so you can just pretty much discard everything post cat.

Thanks for reply, probably go down that route when it needs replaced

Does it really need replacing? I would need to see it to judge. On my wife’s focus it was deteriorating for the 8 years we had the car, wire mesh breaking and fraying, but I never replaced it and it did not fail.
