Engine seems to go into limp mode when increasing speed on uphills.

Featured Replies

This is quite a specific issue that seems to occur on specific roads.

so when i finish work i use the motorway. the first section of the slip road is an uphill road as is the rest of the motorway for about a mile.

I cant seem to pinpoint what triggers the issue though at times i've had the engine at high revs as i start my ascent and its not triggered the issue

when the issue does occur what happens is the vehicle goes into a limp mode limiting the speed to around 50/60mph. there is a noticable power loss. this remains until the motorway levels off and the engine returns to normal. it has happened on other uphill roads too.

whats triggering this?

My previous 1.6tdci did this. Fault code reader said low fuel pressure. I changed fuel filter and it was fine after that. It had been on there for over 100k miles. Ford say change at 37.5k I think. Bleeding the air to get car to run after changing the filter was difficult. Of course yours might be different issue but start with fault code reader to see if any clues there

You know that sounds about right. It does seem like there's just something that's not firing it up as it should be I'm on 84k so goin along with your mileage was this could be it.

I'll pop it over to the local mechanic next week and suggest this
