Mk6 Keyless door central locking/door opening problem

Featured Replies

I have a 2014, Mk6 facelift Fiesta Titanium X, keyless entry, push start and all that jazz, with a problem (or perhaps even a feature) with the central locking that I can't work out.

All of a sudden, the passenger doors (front and back) will not open from the outside unless I double click the open button on the key fob. It didn't used to be this way - the doors would all open with either a single click or a press of the entry button on the door handle. At first I thought it was a more general problem with passenger doors not opening from the outside as seen in this post from a while back:

Since discovering that the problem can be fixed with a double click, I'm faced with another problem - the central locking won't then lock the car unless I also open the drivers door twice for some reason. I think this is an electrical/computer problem rather than mechanical as the passenger doors have hardly ever been used, but it is driving me insane!

Also means that if I do happen to have passengers, I can't use the keyless entry system (pressing the little button on the handle) to open the car and let others in, I need to find the keys in my bag/pocket and double click, or alternatively open every door that's going to be used from the inside.

Any ideas what going wrong here? Or is there a way to reset the locking system? Post linked to above suggested holding the lock and unlock buttons together on the fob and waiting until the indicators flash, but I can't seem to get that to work.

Thanks for your help! 🙂

Sounds like you have activated the 'drivers door only' locking system. The normal way to toggle between driver only and all doors is: Using the keyfob hold down both the lock and unlock buttons for about 5 seconds. If this is not working for you then you need to connect a laptop to the OBDII port and using Forscan change the locking settings.

Hello

Just seen this in the owners manual:

Reprogramming the Unlocking Function
Note:   When you press the unlock button, either all the doors are unlocked or only the driver door is unlocked.Pressing the unlock button again unlocks all the doors.
Press and hold the unlock and lock buttons on the remote control simultaneously for at least four seconds with the ignition off.The direction indicators will flash twice to confirm the change.
To return to the original unlocking function, repeat the process.

Hope this helps

Sorted!

Thank you both. No idea how that managed to activate itself, since I've never held both of those buttons for that long before. But at least it's fixed now and all doors are opening.
