Engine malfunction light in Ford Fiesta 2013

I bought a second hand Ford Fiesta (2013) with 95k miles on the clock. It’s displaying an Engine malfunction light and the car cut out while driving and started again no problem. The light is still lit and a mechanic ran a diagnostic on it and said it was the catalytic converter. Anyone had a similar issue?

    An engine management light could mean anything, without the actual fault code we can't really comment much.

    All I can say is the diagnostic seems logical enough from that vague description but you could've literally said "mechanic said it was ...." and it would've seemed just as logical.
