engine swap

Featured Replies

hi guys im new to this chat and have a question.

ive got a 2005 ford fiesta 1.25 and want to engine swap it for a 1.8 could i get a bigger engine in it and what do u think would be the best engine to fit into this car, and adding more power ? need help plz

People who ask this question are usually new/young drivers who don't have a clue how much work and cost is actually involved in swapping an engine out. The cost would easily exceed the value of the car, it's much easier/cheaper to just sell your car and buy a Fiesta with the engine you want already fitted.

Not to mention the higher insurance premium you would pay for a modified car. Then you have to inform the DVLA and have the logbook changed (which used to take months before covid, God knows how long it takes now).

You can fit the 2.0L from the ST if you really wanted. That would almost double the power.

Have you looked into a remap or one of those chips that piggybacks a couple sensors on the engine? I put one on my 1.5 Ecoboost focus and it's not as amazing as they claimed but certainly enough to feel a power (and fuel usage) boost. Plus it would be so much cheaper than a new engine, although if you want a new engine then I'd say go for it, do what you can to make your car exactly how you want it!

A remap works well on a forced induction engine, but they add very little power on a naturally aspirated one. You're talking maybe 5 HP gain from the 1.2.
