Top end rattle 2010 1.8 he

Featured Replies

Any help would be much appreciated but there is a rattle at the top of the engine more to the left side while stood at the front of the car it’s a 2010 1.8 duratec he it comes at the first start up after being stood over night then goes away but come back when driving above maybe 2k rpms I’ve had the cam cover off and the cams seem fine ie no scores or blue tint indicating getting to hot also don’t feel any movement

It sounds like an oil pressure/lubrication issue.

When did you last change the oil and filter ? and is it the correct grade of oil for your engine ?

It rattled when I bought it couple of weeks ago and changed all fluids and filters at the same time using 5w30 was told it was the bottom rod bearing replace them still there things I’ve checked are the timing, valve clearance and cams all seem to be in spec I've also turned the car over with the key and oil is coming up to the top
