Incorrect Battery Voltage

Featured Replies

Hi, got a 2017 Ford Focus. A few months ago my stop start stopped working, few days ago got my battery tested and it was showing as good and the voltage showing at 12.4v on their machine. Plugged forscan in to the car and it is showing the battery voltage is around 11.4-11.7V. Took it to another garage and they also said the battery tests fine and all seems fine with it. Does anybody have any idea why there is a difference between the battery tester's voltage and the voltage shown in Forscan and through the test menu on the instrument panel?

Put a charger on the battery for a bit, and according to the charger it was around 12.3 - 12.6v

I also had a few random DTC codes, I cleared them but they have came back:

If you are measuring it with the Ignition on then the voltage will look low because of the current that having the Ignition on draws.

If you want a true reading then measure it with a Voltmeter across the Battery terminals 1/2 hour after the car has stopped.
