Cost of painting parts

Featured Replies

Hi, I’m looking into buying some zetec s body kit parts and was just wondering if anyone knew a rough estimate of how much it would cost to get parts like side skirts and spoilers painted in black? Thanks 🙂

Some will say it's all down to how much you want to pay ? For the majority it is exactly that, pay cheap & get a cheap job.....like a dull finish/non matching colour/orange peel effect - Pay higher and you'll end up with something you'll be proud to look at.....matching colour & high gloss finish.

Go to a couple of local bodyshops and look at their work/finish, if your impressed, then ask for a quote, always visit a few body shops and get quotes, though if you want them to fit the body parts, the price will go up.

Remember though that most Ford spoilers/side skirts are bonded on, so if you are getting second hand parts, ensure they are not bent or cracked, removing the front spoiler is not that easy, the black bond sealant is a swine to remove, ensure you get all the fittings, most importantly the jack covers on the side skirts, all four of them, there was a spate of theft in 2010 - 2016 of the covers and thieves selling them on ebay for easy cash, each cover has a small plastic bit that stops the cover falling on the floor, these covers are easily snapped/pulled off, new covers are easy £60, some second hand ones at around £15-£20 each, so make sure you get the covers with the side skirts.

Another tip is with the age of your car I bet there's a few body parts attached to the bumpers, in the same colour as yours, so it's just a matter of swapping the bumpers over, ebay is the best place to get looking.
