Short AM/FM/DAB aerial suggestions

Featured Replies

I have checked threads and ones concerning short stubby or Beesting aerials no longer have live current links to suggested products.

I own2017 66 plate ST line fiesta (7.5) and want to replace stock aerial which works OK with FM/AM/DAB radio and phone calls with short one, without losing aerial performance.

Is this possible?

My local car audio store said this morning he no longer stocks stubby aerials as they don't work well, 'you need to change the base also to one with an amplifier in'

Is this correct?

I stood looking at Richbrook 'antitheft' stubby aerial most drivers are probably familiar with for a good 5 minutes today but could see no clue as to why it would magically work as well as a longer one - I read it might have lots of coils inside but it didn't say so on the packet and I didn't see any mention of copper either.

Paintmodz do a shorter aerial from mk8 fiesta that may apparently fit and work on a 7.5 - can anyone confirm this please?

Worst case is I waste £15 but I will possibly waste far more getting my car to how I'd like it and I do have a family to consider lol

Any pointers/anecdotal evidence appreciated

I've got the MK8 one from Paintmodz on my 2016 ST3. Works just as well as the original one.

Oh nice one, I know it's around £20, happy to get it if radio n phone are the same, should just fit straight swap then yeah?

Thanks 👍

God knows why Ford don't sell them - or my local Ford doesn't, and ringing Ford is like a glimpse into an alternate reality where they agree they know what Ford is, say thank you and lots of reassuring stuff but don't know anything else.  I couldn't even guess which country I was transferred to.  Anyway, cheers, I see two nice mk7.5 ST3's around my area, they never fail to make me watch them til out of sight...

Easiest thing you can think of unscrew the old one and screw on the new one.

And no worries happy to help.  I only bought it in the middle of July and absolutely loving it so far.
