MK7 1.4tdci P010f-p - RESEALING INJECTORS

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, really getting fed up with this car now... This is today's problem, is it just a case of putting a new MAF sensor in or could it be an air leak? I've sprayed everywhere with carb cleaner while idling and didn't notice any difference in the idle.

have you tried cleaning off the MAF, they can get dirty and cause this

I cleaned it, no difference, I may unplug it and see if it changes anything, if it runs fine without the MAF plugged in, is it just a case of buying a new MAF or could a leak be causing it?

have you checked for vacuum leaks from the brake booster?

I sprayed carb cleaner pretty much everywhere and the idle didn't change, I thought I could hear an air leak but I'm the only person who can hear it 😂

I recently tightened the injector bolts down but I can't remember if I didn't use the car for a while after or it didn't have this problem after putting everything back together. The air filter housing had seen better days so I got another one from the scrap yard today and swapped them over, it's definitely made a difference but there's still a massive air leak that keeps throwing this code up.

I still think it could be the brake booster, you can spray all the carb cleaner you want in the engine bay but the brake boosters tend to leak on the side that is faceing into the drivers footwell, try spraying carb celaner where the brake pedal pushes it

I'll give that a go after work, I was focusing my attention on the things I removed to get to the injectors as they were the most recently removed / reattached. Hopefully the rain holds off until I can have a look.

Doesn't seem to be the brake booster, think I need to use smoke to find it now.

The only thing I think it could be now is the rocker cover gasket but would that give this code? It's a nightmare to get the rocker cover back on and a lot of stripping down to get to it.

Took it all apart again today, one of the o rings on the rocker cover is in pretty bad shape (assume it happened when reinstalling) so I've ordered an injector seal kit, may as well do it all now as the injectors are showing signs of leaking.

While waiting on the parts, is it worth soaking the carbon build up with anything to make it easier to remove? If so, what?

A dribble of diesel is pretty good at loosening muck.  It doesn't just evaporate like solvents do but soaks in and gets underneath instead.

Engine degreaser or oven cleaner are both good at shifting burnt on carbon deposits as well.  Just be a bit more careful where you spray those, I wouldn't clean the injector tips with them personally.

I paid a garage to do this job a few years ago, they never bothered to remove the old copper washer on this injector, literally just finished & the car miraculously started straight away.

Haven't used the car since doing the injectors but if I keep the revs up for a bit, it still throws the same code up. If I unplug the MAF will it just run in a default configuration? Just to see if I need a new MAF.

Cleaned both MAFs with MAF cleaner and it's still going into limp mode with this code, obviously there's a chance both MAFs are faulty but I have a feeling it's something else.... It's driving me mad now!

Was the replacement a used MAF?  They're one thing that really need to be new & genuine.  Old ones are generally crap.  Cheap ones are generally worse!

I don't suppose you have a local acquaintance with the same engine?  If you could borrow a known good one that would help with the diagnosis.

It's fixed... And I don't want to talk about it 😂

Come on what was it?

MAP sensor had come unplugged (timing cover end) when reinstalling the timing cover, annoyingly no code mentioned MAP sensor only MAF which meant trouble shooting took forever!
