Issues with 2018 Focus ST line X 1.5 ecoblue diesel.

Featured Replies

Hi everyone...... I've just purchased a 2018 Focus ST line X 1.5 ecoblue diesel and whilst I'm pleased with the overall quality and look of the vehicle I've noticed a few frustrating issues!!!

1. The clutch pedal....Appears to be heavy to push down and it kicks back when it returns up!! Is this normal?

2. Engine tapping/pinking sound on acceleration!!!.... This happens every time I push on the pedal and when the engine is both cold and warm!!!

3. Bonnet catch temperamental!! You have to pull it 4/5 times before it releases the bonnet!!

Are these common faults on the Focus and do these need investigating at my Ford local dealership before the warranty runs out in November? I look forward to hearing your opinions and advice on these issues.... Many thanks!!!

I don't recall the clutch pedals being heavy on these so might be worth getting your dealer to compare to another vehicle, it's possible the pressure plate has a fault,

same with the tapping noise get them to compare it's hard to diagnose a noise that we can't hear but if you're noticing it then it may not be "normal".

The bonnet is issue is extremely common, the cable has stretched and needs replacing, it comes in 2 halves and it's the bonnet latch end that needs replacing 👍
