Certificate of Conformity

Featured Replies

I am trying to purchase a Ford certificate of conformity for an Escort 1.6i cabriolet mk 4 registered in 1989.

I have  contacted ford and they cannot find the car on their database. I purchased a non ford coc which has not been accepted by the french authorities and they will not allow me to register the car in France.

Not sure what to do now, advice please.

Thanks Wayne

For most governments in Europe, a manufacturer Certificate of Conformity is the ONLY valid one.  I tried to get hold of one for my Subaru, which I purchased in Switzerland, and want to import into the UK, but it proved too difficult in the end.

Your only option is to persist with Ford.  If they don’t recognise the car, based on chassis and engine numbers, then the sad likelihood is, that you’ve been sold some form of mongrel build.  Perhaps run those numbers through a paid for car checking service first, and then submit that to Ford.

Hi, we have already done all that, I dont think the car has been tampered with as all the numbers are all stamped on car body and inside engine on the plate.
