I’m starting to think cus it drinks so much like 29 mpg and it’s a full tank a week so 50quid a week and it clocks 290 miles a week i defo don’t do  that the might be a leak or something

What sort of driving do you do?

And how heavy is your right foot? Usually people get poor MPG out of these because they floor it at every set of lights due to the lack of power to keep up with other drivers.

I drive maybe 13-20 miles a day sometimes none on days all this is within a we’ll frame and my driving is trying to climb those gears I’m usually always cruising in 4th at about 25mph but it is a lot of stop and go traffic

That'll do it.

The best way to calculate your MPG is to reset the trip computer and brim the tank. Drive until you get close to empty, then refill. Make a note of the miles done and how many litres you put in, then you can use a calculator to accurately work out your MPG.

Using your figures of 290 miles to £50 of fuel (I'm guessing you're paying around £1.32 a litre, which is the average around me atm). That works out at nearly 35mpg, which is quite good for driving around town in the 1.2L engine.

That's too high a gear. You're lugging the engine and can actually use more fuel when you put your foot down.

29MPG is about what I would expect given all the unknowns.

I expect petrol prices in your area are a lot more expensive than in mine. £50 would get me a lot more fuel than you. Also driving in and around London and the south east is nearly always stop - start unless your're on a nice big motorway like the M25 and then its mostly stop - stop and stop a bit more !

With my car driving short stop - start distances around town I get about 48mpg but if I go for a 30 mile drive along the motorway at around 70mph I can easily get 56mpg.

Didn't you mean too high? Our 1.25 was happier in 3rd at that sort of speed.

Yes lol, I'd hate to imagine the noise in 5th at that speed when you put your foot down.
