MOT failure - high CO,HC and Lamda readings

Featured Replies

Hey guys i have a 2004 fiesta and failed MOT for  the carbon monoxide content  after 2nd fast idle test ,i have plugged in the trusted code reader and i have codes P0138 & P0450 , indicating the oxygen sensor is gone . will replacing the sensor fix the emission problem ? the test center said the cat needs replacing... so its either £25 for the sensor or £ 250 for a new cat ..can any one help  cheers Daz

Edit - Misread, my bad.

If the car is worth it, throw the £25.00 or less if you shop around at the sensor first give it a good carb and fiter clean, throw some cleaner in the tank etc, give it a good blast and retest. Then you'll know whats needed.
