No Radio signal after Audio Control Module upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi all!

Thank you for welcoming me on this forum!

I have a strange problem after I upgraded my 2011 mk3 from low audio to sync 1. Everything worked as a charm, only that the radio reception is very poor. If I press to autoscan for the 10 strongest channel, I barely get 3-4 that are can listened too, and nor does the seek station function find anything. Though by scanning manually I can find some stations

I think there might be a problem with the radio antenna. The original unit was with the single black fakra connector, and this one has both the white and the black ones, currently with only the black connected.

I have read, that the antenna is amplified, and according to the original acm pinout the current was provided by pin 2. Is there a possibility, that the new head unit gives out the current via the white fakra (according to the interwebs, white means phantom power)?

My other guess would be that the black one is for DAB (though this option is not written on the new unit), and I should in fact try to plug it into the white fakra for FM/AM analog signal. I have found mixed info on forums about the true function of the 2 fakras, but I am not really sure about this option.

O have attached a photo of the new headunit.

Any suggestion is welcome.

Br,

Boti

Hi!

If the old antenna did not receive the phantom power from the single black fakra, and I will plug both the white and black radio input via a splitter into the antena, is there a possibility that the antenna amp might get faulty from the overcurrent?

Or is it that the original solution provided also phantom, although through the black fakra (which according to the standards it should not do)?
