I have a 2008 Ford Fiesta Zetec Blue.

I was driving down a dual carrigeway, as I crossed over an island it seemed to jump out of gear. Then it went back in gear (without me touching) then it jumped out & in again.

Then it jumped out and never went back in. It's now like there are no gears in the car, it's as though I left the gearbox up the road.

What's happened

Is the gearstick jumping out of gears or are you just losing drive with the gears selected?

At first it was as though it was jumping out. Now there is nothing I move the gearstick around and nothing is there, no bites it's as though the gear box has gone.

Sounds like the gearbox at fault rather than the clutch then.  You could check that the gear selector cables haven't come loose but I feel that's probably a bit optimistic! 

On my wife’s focus one gear cable became disconnected at the gear lever end so it was stuck in neutral what ever position the gear lever was in. It was the cable that moves when the gear lever is moved forward and back(as opposed to sideways) . But is was obvious to me as the gear-lever moved forwards and backwards too easily like it was not connected to anything. One thing you could do is get someone to move gear lever whilst you look at the cables where they connect to gearbox(usually under a plastic flap for weather protection).
