Not going into gear

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 17 plate fiesta and it intermittently keeps not going back in gear after stopping at traffic lights for example. If I turn the engine off and rest it then it will go back into gear.

Took it to two garages. One couldn’t find cause as it wouldn’t do it while in garage. Other said same but thought it was clutch that needed replacing as high biting point. Clutch replaced and happened again. Anyone had this and know the cause?

Had a few cars over the years that occasionally did something similar - usually just slipping it momentarily into another gear then back to first does the trick.

Was the slave cylinder replaced with the clutch?

Yes

Try having the clutch hydraulics bled. If that won't fix it then you probably have a bearing failing in the gearbox.
