Drum brake back axle

Hi, I've had a catastrophic brake failure, and the brake shoe bottom pivot has parted company with the backplate.

Ford are quoting £115 and £145 for a backplate depending on which side of the car it's fitted to.

I've heard that a Fiesta has the same axle, can anyone confirm this please

I don’t know the answer, but how was the bit attached that has come off? Can it be welded back on?

Cat Car only lists one backplate for Fiesta and Fusion, so probably interchangeable.

Is this bit Riveted ?

I'd be very surprised if it's not common with Fiesta.

Easiest way to find out?

Get the reg number of a similar year Fiesta with exact same powertrain as yours, then go to Ford parts dept. and check FINIS code for part for your car then the Fiesta.

Oh I see, when I mentioned welding I thought perhaps the riveted bit  broke or something like that but I see now it’s rotted with rust. If you got if off  and a skilled welder with oxy-acetylene had it on a bench they would probably be able to do a good job on it, but unless you know someone at such a metal working place then it’s probably going to be tricky to find someone prepared to do it.

Have you checked the other side of the car in case it’s about to go the same way?
