Radiator cooling fan kaput......i think?

Featured Replies

hi All

so i think we may have sussed what has been causing the overheating issues on my sons 1.25 2013 fiesta. When left running for a while the radiator fan does not seem to kick in. So in the end i disconnected it and ran a 12 volt feed from the battery directly to it. Am i guessing right that this should have kicked the fan in if it was working OK?

If it is kaput........is this quite a common thing on these little motors?

The fan works on a 12Volt supply? Yes?   Then the fan is ok so there might well be a temperature sensor that has given in or lost its wire.  It is pretty common  on most cars.

No? The fan's motor has called it a day. It gets some pretty rotten working conditions and again, it is a fault that affects most makes.

Cheers mate

Yes it is option 2......does not work with 12v supplied to it

Does it spin freely when you push the blades with your hand?   If not, then it might just need some wd40 and getting it to free off.
