Water in the spare tyre well

Featured Replies

Hi I just bought a 2018 fiesta 1 litre eco boost, I was giving mg car a good once over in the inside and noticed there was 2 inches of water in the spare tyre well can anyone tell me y and how to fix? thanks sco100

I can’t say where it’s coming in but first thing I would do is drill a small hole at the lowest point ( of course check underneath to make the drill won’t damage anything else)

I wouldn't drill a hole you need to find the cause. try and find the source of the leak pull everything out including carpets close everything up flip down the back seats then get someone to spray water over the car whilst you remain inside. hopefully this will show the source of the leak then repairs can be carried out.

edit: just noticed its a 2018 if it still in warranty get it down to ford its there problem.

I wasn’t suggesting you don’t try to find the leak but as it might take time to find I wouldn’t want the spare wheel well filling up even more

The hole may become a future source of rust though as you will be drilling through the protective coating

Questions I would ask: Is it coming from above or below? Wet carpets or bootlid seals are a clue to the former, their absence the latter. Newspaper over the boot floor and a hose over the tailgate shut lines may help to trace the ingress point. One thing to check: does the rear washer work? It wouldn't be the first with a break in the pipe...

It's coming in from rubber seals around the hath you get some rubber vacuum hose try sliding in throw round part o've boot seal same for door seal if carpet get damp to
