Power Steering Assist fault

Featured Replies

I am trying to get my car fixed. It has come up with Power steering assist fault. I've had it looked at and I understand it's an electrical fault with the power steering module which surprises me as the car is only 5 years old and hasn't done that many miles. Anyway I want to know roughly how much it will cost to fix but when I contact my local ford dealers they either don't call back or won't even give me a rough estimate of how much it will be if they need to replace both module and rack which is very annoying. I need to get it fixed but I also need an idea of price. Please can anyone help?

Start with the battery. The power steering is electric and very sensitive to low voltage from a worn out battery. Get the battery tested and replaced if necessary.

If the steering rack needs changing expect £1000 for a new one or a bit less than £500 for a reconditioned one (very rough prices).
